| Nature Club Pics | Extracurricular activities are offered for students beginning at 1st grade. The older the students, the more opportunities they have to participate in an extracurricular. Click on the links to the left to see photos of the extracurriculars in action. Game Club (Ms. Novak, 1st-2nd) Game Club (Ms. Balcerzak, 3rd-5th) Game Club is for students who love to play games! There will be a variety of board games, card games, as well as educational games available to be played. Students can bring in their own board games with teacher approval. This club meets twice a month at 25th Street so be prepared to have a lot of FUN! Aquatic Animal Care (Mr. McKillip, 1st-2nd) This year the aquatic animal care club will be setting up and maintaining aquariums and terrariums at the 25th street campus. At the moment we have one freshwater aquarium, one turtle terrarium, an in the future we will be setting up a micro reef. Percussion (Mr. Martin, 4th-8th) Have you ever thought about playing the tambourine, maracas, triangle, claves and perhaps congas & drums? Then, this is your opportunity for learning. Once you learn the percussion, we’d like you to join the prince of Peace School choir. We’ll be playing one of the Sunday masses at Prince of Peace. Guitar (Mr. Martin, 4th-8th) Don’t miss your chance. By learning guitar you will have the opportunity to become a music leader in the church, with your friends, etc. We will join, eventually, the Prince of Peace School choir. We’ll be waiting for you. Martin, 3rd-5th) Would you like to learn how to sing? Would you like to be part of a Choir? Here at Prince of Peace we want to have our School Choir to sing the school masses and eventually the Sunday mass. Come and join us, it will be fun! Reader’s Theatre (Ms. Foy, 1st-2nd) 4-H (Girls in 4th-5th) A 4-H community club brings youth together to learn new things, make new friends and have fun! You will learn through trying new things. You will be allowed to choose a project you would like to work on such as: animals, sewing, electricity, aerospace, or plants, just to name a few For Girls only! Boy Scouts (Boys in 2nd-5th) The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. You will get to try new things as you learn to become a better citizen. Daisy
Scouts (Ms. Marsho & Torres, Girls in K5-1st) Daisies is the first level of Girl Scouts. Girls will have the opportunity to discover, connect and take actions with the world around them. This program helps girls become leaders in their own lives and their communities. Join Daisies to build confidence, character, and courage. Batons (Mrs.
Kuplic, 1st-3rd) Baton twirling is a game involving the manipulation of a balanced metal rod with the hands and body to a co-coordinated routine, similar to rhythmic gymnastics. It is an expression of the body through dance and movement to create a demonstration of strength, flexibility, physical fitness, beauty, aesthetics, and harmony in coordination with the manipulation of the baton. NOTE: A baton will be provided during the session, but if your child wishes to practice at home a baton will need to be purchased. You may purchase one from Mrs. Kuplic if you want a good quality/professional baton. Maximum of 12 students Keyboarding (Ms.
Beebe, 4th-5th) Keyboard class is an introductory class in playing piano. We will learn to name the notes, read simple rhythms and play simple songs in a group setting. Class limit is 8 students and students must attend regularly. Cooking (Ms.
Bartolotta, 2nd-3rd) Who doesn’t love to eat snacks after school?! Cooking class for second and third grade is a great way for young children to learn the basics of cooking and baking. They will be introduced to measuring, cooking utensils, reading recipes, and cooking vocabulary. The students who join cooking class will lend a helping hand in making a variety of snacks and treats and get to taste their creations as well! Cooking (Mrs. Tatem, 4th-5th) We are once again having cooking class twice a month during the school year. The recipes are being gathered and it will be a delicious time to bake, fry, and eat. Please join our group of 12 to create some small masterpieces. The classes will be held in the cafeteria at the 25th Street campus from 3:30p.m. until 4:30p.m. See you there. Cooking (Ms.
Gerbensky, 6th-8th) Join cooking club, and learn to make a variety of dishes from around the world! Puzzles (Mrs.
Wegner, 5th-8th) Members will be able to choose traditional jigsaw puzzles, number puzzles (such as Sudoku), word puzzles, and other logic puzzles. Some of our time will be spent in the computer lab exploring other types of puzzles, too. Nature Club (Mrs. Williams, 6th-8th) Nature Club works to help students appreciate the environment and to become good stewards of the Earth. We become good stewards of the Earth by making our students, staff and families aware of simple things they can do to take care of the environment--examples that we do at school include our school garden, composting and recycling. We learn to appreciate nature by providing the kids with a variety of nature experiences--examples from last year included camping and kayaking. Yearbook (Ms. Wolf, 4th-8th) The Yearbook club organizes our school’s year-end memory book. We plan and organize each page to make it interesting to everyone! We meet in the computer lab at 25th Street and learn how to use a computer program to organize the layout of the memory book. We can also take pictures of special events and activities that happen throughout the school year. We’ll have fun as we Celebrate the Spirit at Prince of Peace! World Missions (Sr. Gladys, 2nd-5th) We will connect with our brothers and sisters around the world and learn about their likenesses and differences. We will learn about children in poor countries via videos, activities, letter-writing and will be able to taste foods from many different cultures! Art (Ms. Meathe, 6th-8th) If you are a creative and imaginative student Art Club is something you might like to try! Please come join us for Art Club the first and third Monday of the month. We will participate in art activities throughout the community and school, as well as making pieces of art for you to take home! Spanish (Ms.
Stewart, 3rd-5th) Spanish Club is for students who want the opportunity to use their native language and learn more Spanish through a variety of fun and interactive language learning experiences. Students who do not know any Spanish yet, but would like to learn are also welcomed to join this club. Crafts (Ms. Novak, 4th & 5th) Do you like to be creative and make new projects? This year in Craft Club we will be creating a variety of crafts and projects. We will use a variety of mediums and will work on projects that you are interested in! You will have input in the crafts that we will be creating. I look forward to seeing what we can make together Weightlifting (Mr. Courchane, 6th-8th) Mr. Courchane will be lifting weights with you. There will be a concentration on free weights and basic common lifts. This will be more of a how to than an actual result producing class. Computers (Mrs. Natter & Parish, 4th-8th) You will get the chance to discover new computer games, explore the internet, and strengthen technology skills, all while having fun. We will learn new things together as a class, followed by free time to enjoy what we've learned!
